The Aurora city government, in partnership with Will County government, will be host to a free Electronics Recycling Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 at Bednarcik Junior High School, 3025 Heggs Road, Aurora.
All items are free to recycle, including televisions, but registration is required.
Due to the high demand for service:
• The event will be open to Aurora residents only. An ID is required.
• All residents must register for a time slot online at www.tinyurl.com/AuroraRecycles2018 or by calling 630-256-4636.
• Each car is limited to five items in total, including two screens, either television or computer.
• Only approved household items and electronics will be accepted.
The following electronics will be accepted: Cables, cable boxes, cameras, cash registers, cell phones, copiers, cords, DVD players, fax machines, keyboards, laptops, printers (and cartridges), projectors, radios, satellite dishes, stereos, typewriters, VCRs, video games;
The following household items will be accepted: Blenders, bread-makers, carpet-sweepers, coffee-makers, clocks, curling irons, electric knives, electric toothbrushes, fans, fryers, hair dryers, heaters, holiday lights, irons, land-line phones, metal tools, mixers, remotes, toaster ovens, and vacuum cleaners.
The following items will not be accepted: Large appliances such as refrigerators, dish-washers, stoves, air-conditioners, ballasts, bare CRT tubes, dehumidifiers, household batteries, to include AA, AAA, D, C, light bulbs, liquids, microwaves, smoke detectors, VHS cassette tapes, and medical equipment.
