Aurora Lions Club members recently learned of Aurora Public Library District plans for Eola Road branch upgrades.
In a Lions meeting at Santori Aurora Public Library July 18, APLD executive director, Michaela Haberkern, provided history, floor plans, and renderings for the $11.3 million project.
According to Haberkern, renovations will include a spacious meeting room, expanded children’s programming area, numerous new study rooms, a makerspace and new carpet, paint, furniture, and noise abatement.
Construction will be phased Haberkern said, starting in October with completion by the end of 2025.
A Library statement said, “The Aurora Public Library District aims to enhance the Eola Road Branch to meet the evolving needs of the community by designing new spaces with a purposeful mix of materials and an aesthetic unique to each program.
“Design elements will be dynamic, colorful, playful and strive to maintain a level of comfort through thoughtful proportion and keeping the human scale in mind.”
After Eola, West Branch upgrades are planned. Schematic design meetings will be held in early 2025.
