Events and Fines For Food at Plano Library

The Plano Community Library, 15 W. North Street, will be host to many events. For more information and to register, visit planolibrary.info or call 630-552-2009.

• Knit and Crochet Group, Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon.
The informal group works on its own projects, discusses types and colors of yarns, and helps each other with new or tricky patterns. Participants bring their own supplies. No registration is required.

• Free English as a Second Language classes, Mondays and Thursdays, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.. First class was September 5.
Led by volunteer Betty Ross, this informal group meets to develop and increase English language speaking and reading skills. Newcomers are welcome any time.

• Fines For Food, November 1-30.
During November, patrons of the Plano Library can pay fines by making a donation, minimum of $1, to the Plano Rockin’ Christmas program, which distributes food boxes to local families in need. The funds will be used to purchase perishable food items such as meat, produce, milk, and butter.

• Fafsa Completion Workshop, Monday, Nov. 4, 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m..
For high school seniors and their families: A representative from the Illinois Student Assistance Commission will help complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Bring a laptop or use one of two provided. Family representatives should bring 2018 tax returns and W-2 forms, and Social Security number or ITIN number. No registration is required. • Movie Night, Monday, Nov. 11, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m..
In the movie “The Upside,” a paralyzed billionaire hires a parolee to help him. Their professional relationship becomes a friendship as the ex-con shows his grouchy charge that life is worth living in this comedy inspired by a true story. Stars Kevin Hart and Bryan Cranston. Rated PG-13. 2017.
