Families and children are invited to the Vaughan Athletic Center, 2121 W. Indian Trail, Aurora, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, for the Fox Valley Park District’s annual Family Fun Fair.
The educational and interactive event is free to all who attend. Children will have opportunities to participate in fun and healthy activities that include food preparation, an obstacle course, arts and crafts, and inflatables. Mascot appearances will include the FVPD’s Parker and the Kane County Cougars’ Ozzie.
More than two dozen organizations will be on hand to share how their products and services can positively impact lives in the name of healthy habits and recreational activities.
“This event is for families to learn about organizations in the area that can help them from a health standpoint, financial standpoint, and more,” said Erin Collins, the Vaughan Center’s recreation supervisor who oversees the Fun Fair. “It makes them aware of resources they have to make their life better.”
Entertainment will take place throughout the event, including a Kids Karate demonstration, fitness instruction, golf and tennis activities, interactive games, a live DJ, and more. There will be opportunities for attendees to purchase raffle tickets, each vendor donates a prize in the $50-$100 range, along with pizza, pop, mini doughnuts, and smoothies.
“It’s a very well-rounded group of vendors coming to show the community what they can offer them,” Collins said. “It’s a really good opportunity to make deeper connections with organizations right here where we live and work.”
