The status of the old jail building in Yorkville remains in limbo, following the United City of Yorkville City Council meeting Tuesday. A discussion was held for more than an hour with groups holding opposing views, one in favor of keeping the building, renovating it, and using it for the benefit of the community, and a view which favors taking it down for other uses. The City Council decided to give a reprieve to those who have raised $70,000 for restoration. The item will be visited again October 9 at the City Council meeting. The Voice reporter Mark Krueger said a 92-year-old woman was driven from Wauconda to offer a few words to the Council. Carter Crane/The Voice
