Church of the Good Shepherd United Methodist, 5 W. Washington Street in Oswego, will display 50 nativity sets Friday, Dec. 6.
The 20th annual display will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the church during the Oswego Christmas Walk in downtown from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.. The public is invited. Admission is free.
Pam Dodson of Oswego, longtime nativity display coordinator, said sets will be mounted on boards placed across pews in the sanctuary with lights and labels.
The exhibit will be held during a chili and pie supper fundraiser from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The menu includes chili dogs, baked potatoes, chips, homemade pie, brownies, cookies and beverages. Proceeds will benefit United Women in Faith mission projects.
Dodson said the sets from the U.S. to Germany are being being loaned by church members and range from recent to 80 years old. Live music will be provided by Good Shepherd’s praise choir and Fox River Music Academy members.
The Christmas Walk, free to the public, will feature an annual tree-lighting at 5:30 p.m. at the TR Miller Heating, Cooling and Plumbing main stage at Main and Jackson streets. Live choral music and a theatrical performance by school students will be included.
Oswego’s dance troupes and other choirs will perform at three live entertainment locations during the event, along with DJ John Werle.
Children are invited to bring their wish lists and visit Santa at his North Pole home away from home.
Later in the evening, an illuminated emergency vehicle parade will make its way down Main Street sponsored by Oswego Fire Protection District. In addition to decorated trucks and cars, favorite characters will participate.
