The beloved Aurora barber, who served the community for 63 years, was remembered by his family and friends who could not gather when Red died of COVID-19 at the height of the pandemic in December 2020.

The event felt just like a huge, satisfying, collective sigh when a banquet hall full of people finally could together to express their love and gratitude for the man who was a local legend and be together with others whose lives felt the impact of Red’s humor, generosity, life lessons, and bad jokes.

Speeches were given by his children, his longtime business partner, Ed Bunce, and many members of the community, who remembered him as a man of absolute integrity, faith, constant hard work, and devotion to his wife, Irene.
