Last weekend’s warm weather brought a cool new treat for moms and families in Aurora.
The first Bruster’s Real Ice Cream in Illinois opened in the State’s second-largest city.
A popular chain with more than 200 locations in 22 states, Aurora residents Judy Kim and Tony Ford celebrated the milestone location with a Grand Opening ceremony on Mother’s Day Weekend.
When she moved to Aurora, Kim wanted to bring a part of her East Coast experience with her, and she teamed up with Aurora Tony Ford to make the dream a reality.
More than 100 people gathered the weekend before last on Aurora’s far East Side for the grand opening ceremony, including the more than 30 teen employees of the new location.
Aurora mayor Richard Irvin and Ward 9 alderman Edward Bugg led the ribbon-cutting ceremonies that featured music, dancing, and, of course, ice cream!
Bruster’s features 150 flavors of premium hand-crafted ice cream, sherbet, sorbet, and artisan desserts, including crunchy handmade waffle cones, customized sundaes, candy-filled blasts, and thick milkshakes.
The City of Aurora is pleased to welcome the first Bruster’s Real Ice Cream to Illinois as a minority-owned, woman-owned, Asian American-owned, and black-owned business.
Bruster’s is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. at 2440 S. Eola Road.
