Aurora Art League to hold members’ show

The Aurora Art League will hold its 61st annual Members’ Show Friday, Sept. 6 and Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Santori Aurora Public Library, 101 S. River Street, Aurora.

The exhibit will include approximately 90 works of art created by 36 artists.

The show will begin at noon Friday, Sept. 6. An artist reception will have live music performed by John Papadolius from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.. Refreshments will be available.

The show will continue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.

Founded in March 1919, the Aurora Art League is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.

Community Clothes Closet in Aurora

St. John United Church of Christ, 309 Fifth Street in Aurora, will hold its monthly Community Clothes Closet event from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 7. The public is invited. Admission is free.

Reverend Cyndi Gavin, pastor, said the ministry distributes new and used clothes, shoes, toys, books, movie CDs, and household goods to persons in need. Refreshments are included. Visitors must register on site.

At the August 3 Closet, clients included approximately 300 persons and 72 families.

St. John UCC holds a public worship service at 10 a.m. Sundays.
