The Fox Valley Festival Chorus (FVFC) will hold its first rehearsal for the Spring 2019 season Monday, Feb. 4 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 27 S. Edgelawn, Aurora. The Chorus is open to new members; this first rehearsal of the Spring season is a good time to join! Registration will begin at 6:30 p.m., with the rehearsal scheduled to go from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m..
The Chorus has been providing musical entertainment in the Fox Valley area since 1950. Members range in age from high school students to retirees, representing many cities and towns in the region. Truly a community chorus, auditions are required only for soloists. Singers include those who participated in a chorus previously, plus professional musicians, composers, and educators. FVFC programs feature a wide variety of selections, from contemporary to classical, and from sacred masterworks to Broadway.
In addition to presenting concerts in the Fox Valley area each year, the group sang at Carnegie Hall in 2013 under the baton of British composer John Rutter; and in 2015 at Lincoln Center in New York City, led by American composer Mark Hayes. In 2017, the Chorus embarked upon a concert tour of Italy and performed at the Vatican, in addition to churches, basilicas, and cathedrals in Venice and Florence.
Following a June concert in Aurora this year, FVFC members will be featured at venues in Frankenmuth, Mich.; Toronto, Ont.; and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.
