The Fox River Valley Public Library is excited to announce the launch of an ambitious strategic plan designed to guide its operations and public services through 2029.
Following extensive input from patrons, community partners, staff, members and the Library Board, the Library’s 2024-2029 Strategic Plan was approved at the May 21, 2024, board meeting. This comprehensive plan outlines the updated mission, vision, values, strategic priorities, and objectives for serving the library’s community.
Amy Dodson, Library director, stated, “This strategic plan will serve as the cornerstone for all our future initiatives at the Library for the next five years. It was wonderful to see so many Library enthusiasts contribute to shaping the next chapter of our offerings to the community through their input on the plan.”
The updated mission centers on bridging communities through the joy of discovery. This mission highlights the library’s commitment to fostering connections, promoting inclusivity, and inspiring a sense of wonder and exploration among diverse groups. It forms the foundation for building all the library’s focus areas and strategies.
Key priorities include inspiring curiosity and innovation, optimizing spaces to enhance library experiences, offering impactful programs and services, fostering a positive organizational culture, and promoting district-wide engagement with the Library.
The focus areas of the strategic plan include:
- Discovery: Providing free and equal access to collections, programs, and services that inspire curiosity, encourage learning, and prioritize personal growth.
- Presence: Improving physical library spaces to increase access and optimize the Library experience for all users.
- Connection: Expanding awareness of the Library’s innovative resources through outreach, community partnerships, and transparent financial practices.
- Talent: Fostering a positive work culture that values and supports employee talents and offers professional growth and development opportunities.
