The City of Aurora government is collaborating with the FBI to host the ‘Empowering Seniors Against Scams’ Workshop on National Senior Fraud Awareness Day at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 15.It will take place at two locations: Senior Services Associates, 2111 Plum Street and Bardwell Residences, 301 Weston Avenue, both in Aurora.
It will be a free one-hour workshop- led by the FBI for Aurora senior citizens, caregivers, family, and service providers, to provide the knowledge and tools required to recognize and avoid scams that threaten financial security.
National Senior Fraud Awareness Day is observed annually May 15.
It serves as a reminder to raise awareness of the prevalence of scams targeting older adults and to educate seniors on how to protect themselves from financial scams.
The workshop is free and open to the public.
