Demeter funds go to Paws Saving Lives
Donald A. Demeter Golf Tournament in Rocky Point, Mexico will be a benefit to Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora.
Charles Demeter, son of Donald A. Demeter, and a member of the Aurora Club, organized the event in memory of his father. The funds raised annually are donated to Paws Saving Lives, diabetic alert dogs.
To the participants of the Don Demeter Golf Tournament sincere appreciation from the Cosmo Club for reaching into our community with caring hearts. Cosmopolitan means “citizen of the world.” These golfers are special citizens of the world.
The Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora has provided service to the Aurora area for 90 years. It is a member club of Cosmopolitan International, chartered not-for-profit service organization, chartered 100 years ago.
Our mission is to contribute to community well-being through charitable donations and volunteer service, with special emphasis on supporting efforts to prevent and find a cure for diabetes.
The Aurora club raises funds for Research, Camp Scholarships for diabetic children, Paws Savings Lives, and other community charities.
New members are welcome. Meetings are the third Thursday of the month, Oak Street Cafe, North Aurora 6 p.m..

Books needed for Used Book Sale
The Friends of the Yorkville Public Library are planning their 10th annual Used Book Sale. Money raised by the sale goes directly to the support the Yorkville Library.
The Used Book Sale will be held during Hometown Days, Saturday and Sunday, September 1 and 2. The group is looking for donations of gently-used books of all types. Paperbacks, hardcover, and books for adults and children are all accepted.
All books should be brought to the main desk at the Library.
