Late, last-minute agreement? Just in time?

There will be Major League Baseball this year, if there is no flare up in COVID-19. At least late Tuesday this week the owners and the players association decided on a 60-game schedule, continuation of Spring training with reporting Wednesday, July 1, and the season to begin Friday, July 24. What is in store for college and NFL football at the end of August?

• Meanwhile, allowed by the Illinois High School Association, Fall sports individuals are going though drills. See page 8.

• The high school venerable Little Ten Conference, formed for the 1919-1920 school year, will return to 10 schools, however, only for the 2020-2021 school year. DePue High School, formerly in the Tri-County Conference, including Seneca, Putnam County, and Ottawa Marquette, in the Spring was accepted into The Little. Ten, which includes Hinckley-Big Rock, Newark, and Somonauk. There will be 11 teams in the 2021-2022 school year after the recent acceptance of the Illinois Math and Science Academy (IMSA) in Aurora.
