Those thinking about going solar can attend the program “Go Solar!,” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at the Aurora Public Library’s West Branch.
The Citizen’s Utility Board, a statewide non-profit organization, will present the free solar information session where attendees will have the opportunity to learn everything they might need to know about switching to solar power for their personal needs.
The presentation will cover the basics of solar power, various new solar power initiatives for Illinois, and the financial implications for your home should you choose to make the switch.
Don’t have enough sun over your home? Not to worry. The presentation will cover community solar, an option for those who want to switch to this green, sustainable energy source, but are worried it might not be practical for them.
“Early this month, we hosted a program on the science and effects of climate change, and some possible solutions to it,” West Branch manager Scott Grotto said of the program. “While the presentation focused on the importance of direct action at the federal level, the issue is on everyone’s minds, so we thought it was important to offer a program that might educate people on the ways they can make a difference in their personal lives.
Our hope is that even if people don’t all run out and switch to solar power right away, they’ll realize that we do have other options aside from fossil fuels, and that a lot of these options are quite practical.”
In addition to attending the program, interested customers can visit the Citizen’s Utility Board’s website at citizensutilityboard.org for more information.
“Go Solar!” does require registration, so interested individuals should go to the Aurora Public Library’s website or call West Branch at 630-264-3600 to register. We hope to see you there!
