• A new Wendy’s Restaurant opened with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony September 19 in Aurora, not far from Batavia, 2962 Kirk Road. City government officials included Chuck Nelson, deputy mayor, and Tina Bowman, alderman.

• The Montgomery Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) will hold an annual Montgomery bus tour starting 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Village Hall, 200 N. River in a property showcase.
• The Oswego Literary Festival will include more than 50 authors Sunday at the Oswego Public Library downtown campus, 32 Jefferson Street.
• Will County’s early voting has started for the November 6 election and will go until 4:30 p.m. November 1, according to the Nancy Schultz Voots.
