Communities offer interaction with members of the communities. Governments are involved as a part of the process. Approval of governmental activities by the public is important to those active in government. Public relations is important.
Interaction and communications are a part of the process.
The National Night Out Tuesday, Aug. 1 is one of the most visible functions. Children and families can be involved, remembered, recalled.
It can be a feel-good process. Good weather is required for success. The overwhelming heat of last week had receded and we were blessed. It was not rained out. All who attended could make it a positive situation.
The good feelings will be long-lasting.
Good or bad, citizens of all our communities have available communication with government representatives, council members, and assistants.
Residents can take advantage of such communications. The countries with less democratic availability do not have opportunities to communicate, discuss, and consider government options. It is all available if we choose such options. It works if the representatives have the best interests at heart, take it seriously, and want the best for all residents. Wide-sweeping, idealistic, however, it can work and be worthwhile.
Back-to-School is another important early August time in all of our communities. It was surprising to see the great variety of the return dates in our communities. There was approximately almost one month difference in return dates.
Political climate is beginning to heat up. The true beginning of the dialogue will be the Republican Party panel of candidates to be shown on Fox, Wednesday, Aug. 23. Following that occasion, the heat and rhetoric only will be turned up. May we see the need for greater genuine discussions.
