Montgomery village officials and invited guests of the Gray’s Mill Estate perform ribbon-cutting duties Wednesday, Aug. 18 adjacent to the Fox River in downtown Montgomery. The building was built on the west bank of the Fox River in Montgomery in 1853 and was operated as a water-powered turbine-flour mill until 1916. It alternately has been empty and had businesses in the building since 1916, most recently a barbecue restaurant which closed nearly four years ago. Mike Baum, left, and Phil Cullen, handle the ribbon-cutting duties. The plan is to revive the building with weddings, guest quarters, a speakeasy pub, and other amenities. The Danny Boy’s pub and restaurant in the lower quarters is open for business.
