A habitat restoration work day will be held at Bliss Woods Forest Preserve from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 22. Cutting and stacking invasive shrubs such as honeysuckle and buckthorn will be the main task. If conditions permit, a brush pile may be burned. Tools will be provided, but feel free to bring loppers and hand cutters.
Bliss Woods is a beautiful, high-quality woodland host to many unusual plants. Removing invasive species will help sustain its unique nature.
Please dress for the weather in layers, including sturdy shoes or boots and work gloves. Do not wear synthetic outerwear in case we burn a brush pile. We will meet at the parking lot of Templo Belem, 42W635 Kedeka Road in Sugar Grove.
Refreshments will be available at the break. Anyone under 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
