Wesley United Methodist Church, 14 N. May Street in Aurora, will show “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” (PG) at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17.
The public is invited. Admission, parking, and refreshments, are free.
Reverend John Bell, pastor, said, “(participants can) enjoy a night out with unlimited buttered popcorn and bottled water. Donations will be accepted to sponsor a farm animal through Heifer International.”
According to Rev. Bell, Heifer International is a global nonprofit which works to eradicate poverty and hunger through sustainable, values-based, holistic community development. Heifer distributes animals, along with agricultural and values-based training, to families in need around the world.
“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” is a 2001 fantasy film based on J. K. Rowling’s 1997 novel of the same name.
In the first installment of the Harry Potter film series, the story follows Harry Potter’s first year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry when he discovers that he is a famous wizard and begins his education.
Daniel Radcliffe portrays Harry Potter, with Rupert Grint as Ron Weasley, and Emma Watson as Hermione Granger.
