The Fort Hill Wellness Series continues into 2026 with its next topic, “Colon Cancer Options and Care” Wednesday, March 11 at 1 p.m. at Fort Hill Activity Center, 20 Fort Hill Drive, Naperville.
Dr. Jared Emolo, a Colon and Rectal Surgeon at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, will lead an hour-long discussion on the basic principles of cancer, helping define types of cancer and how to navigate the diagnosis. Additionally, Advocate will provide attendees with boxed lunches for the Wellness Series’ first Lunch and Learn session. Due to lunch being provided, registration will close one week prior to the event Wednesday, March 4.
Colon cancer occurs when cells in your colon grow out of control and form a tumor. Depending on the location of the cancer and the stage of diagnosis, treatments can include surgery, chemo, radiation, or other therapies. The best way to prevent colon cancer is getting screened regularly, which typically begins at age 45.
This presentation is free for Fort Hill Fitness members, but members must register in person at Fort Hill Activity Center or by phone at 630-995-8900. Nonmember fees for the seminar are $5 per person; nonmembers need to register online at www.napervilleparks.org by clicking “Register Online” and searching for “Wellness Series” or activity code 114230.
