Every day is time to know that COVID-19 continues and touches our lives in some way. It is reality. It is undeniable. We all know it and must be prepared to act and react. We can do more than throw up our hands in defeat. We must not surrender.
The DuPage County Board Tuesday of this week approved a proposal that will provide $2.5 Million in grants for DuPage County restaurants and bars that are struggling due to COVID-19. The DuPage County Board set aside the $2.5 Million from the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act as part of the Reinvest DuPage small business grant relief program overseen by Choose DuPage.
It is important that governments understand they play roles in helping individuals and businesses. Nonetheless, each one of us can perform minor instances where we can help businesses. One more purchase, one more good word, encouragement, thoughtfulness, thinking of community businesses instead of corporate monoliths which have less heart and soul invested in communities. They are neighbors in a larger sense.
• Kane County Health Department extends such community support for business, ever mindful that necessary mitigation phases are for good health, however, can hurt businesses. “These restrictions are in place to help reduce the spread of the (COVID-19) virus,” said Kane County Health Department executive director Barbara Jeffers.
• Naperville mayor Steve Chirico issued two new executive orders to assist in the ongoing response to COVID-19. Increase in additional liquor licenses will be permitted and noise standards will not be relaxed to allow 24-hour deliveries.
• We can make positive differences when we think of others and find ways to help, always.
