Herschel Luckinbill, Montgomery, president of the Fox Valley Veterans Breakfast Club, will be honored as the Sox Hero of the Game at the 7:10 p.m. Chicago White Sox baseball game against the Baltimore Orioles, Wednesday, May 23. Luckinbill, U.S. Navy Petty Officer Second Class, will be acknowledged on the field after the completion of the top half of the third inning as the Hero of the Game for his service to our country. New 50/50 raffle for Vets Cruise Night
The Vets Week Cruise Night will take place at West Aurora Plaza, 2131 West Galena Boulevard, Aurora from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 26.
There is no entry fee for vehicles, but in an effort to generate more funds for our service dog project we decided to start a 50/50 raffle about three weeks ago and we will continue to sell the tickets until about 6:30 p.m. on the day of the cruise night. There was, as of last week, $3,000 in the pot. At 7 p.m. at the cruise night we will have our first service dog recipient pull the winning ticket. Tickets are $5. per ticket.

Oswego Junior Police Academy first call
The Oswego Police Department will be host to two sessions of the Junior Police Academy this Summer, Monday, June 4 through Friday, June 8 and Monday, July 9 through Friday, July 13. Both sessions are from 8 a.m. to noon.
The Junior Academy is offered free of charge to all 2018-2019 District 308 Junior High School students. Applications are due by May 31. Applications are available at the Oswego Law Enforcement Center or at www.oswegopoliceil.org.
