Energy efficiency is not something commonly associated with older homes, but it is often an inaccurate assumption. Windows manufactured and installed in the 19th Century, for example, have energy efficient qualities and are easier to maintain than many homeowners believe.
Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley, a not-for-profit operator of historic properties and advocate for historic preservation, will be host to an engaging presentation at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 21 by Mark E. Nussbaum, P.E., a specialist in Sustainable Systems Design and Historic Preservation, in the Carnegie Community Room at the St. Charles Public Library. Nussbaum will dispel the myth that historic homes are not and cannot be energy efficient as well as teach some methods homeowners can use to increase their historic home’s energy efficiency.
The event is free and open to the public. Registration is required due to space limitations. To register, visit PPFV.org/energy.
