You do not need to be a member of the Navy League, or have a reservation, to attend the in-person meeting, the general public is welcome. All are invited to this event. Only those who order a meal are required to pay for the meal. Others may attend at no-charge.

The after dinner speaker is Mr. Stephen Isaacson whose topic is ” The Role of the “Land-Based” ICBM (as a deterrent) and My Experiences With It”. He will discuss the past and present roles as well as a look forward to the new “Sentinel” land-based ICBM (which gradually replaces the presently deployed Minuteman III. This presentation is especially meaningful to all because in the past we had only one nuclear adversary, but today we have four.

After graduating from San Diego State University AFROTC he was an Air Force Officer from 1965 to 1970. He was trained as a missile launch officer (Minuteman I ICBM); was a Deputy Combat Crew Commander (DMCCC) overseeing 10 silo-based ICBM’s at Ellsworth AFB, Rapid City, South Dakota; a “missile procedures trainer” instructor at Ellsworth; and then as an instructor in “missile procedures” at Vandenberg AFB, Lompoc, California. In 1967, he was deputy commander of an ICBM combat crew that test-launched a Minuteman I ICBM downrange to the South Pacific and was an observer on the first ICBM launch initiated from an aircraft at 30,000 feet over Vandenberg AFB and the Pacific Missile Range. (A demonstration of “command redundancy” in the event the silo-based crews were incapacitated). Afterwards he was as a “protocol officer” assigned to the 1st Strategic Aerospace Division. Being fluent in ICBM and NASA rocket systems tested and launched by the USAF at Vandenberg. His current military associations include the Air Force Association of Former Missileers (AAFM), the Strategic Deterrent Coalition, the U.S. Naval Institute, the 786 Club, and the Disabled American Veterans.

In his civilian career Mr. Isaacson has been a successful financial advisor and trader for 37 years.

He graduated from Pepperdine University (The George L. Graziadio School of Business in 2016) and holds a Management Certificate in Private Capital Markets (In residence). He also holds a BA degree in International Relations and Investment Banking from San Diego State University (1965).

The Aurora Council needs to expand its membership. This is our only source of funds to help the Junior Navy and AF ROTC units in area High Schools. It will pay half of the first year’s dues for new members. This is an excellent opportunity to attend an interesting event, and determine whether you would like to join permanently.
