Jake’s Bagels & Deli served green bagels while hosting the Diabetes Club’s March, ‘Meet and Greet’; Diabetes Club of Fox Valley gains two new members

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley members held their March membership meeting Wednesday, March 11, at Oak Street Restaurant, 945 Oak Street, in North Aurora.

Golf committee co-chairperson, Jenny McCain, distributed flyers about DCFV’s, 4th Annual “Tee Off to Defeat Diabetes” Golf Outing and Banquet, being held Saturday, June 6, at Bliss Creek Golf Course, in Sugar Grove, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. She stated, “Only $175 per golfer, which includes lunch, golf cart, goody bag, and a great steak dinner. A huge raffle and door prize drawings will follow dinner. If you don’t golf, sign up for the steak dinner for $50. Put your name or business on the Friends of DCFV Sponsorship Banner for $150, or become a hole sponsor: Bronze $300, Silver $400, or Gold for $500. Hole sponsors will be listed in our annual program and on the Friends of DCFV Banner, which will be displayed at the golf outing, and other Club events, throughout the summer. Jenny McCain, finished by saying “I’m in the process of securing donations for our huge raffle. Please contact me if you wish to donate something for the raffle, or have any questions regarding our golf outing at: 630-204-1197 or E-mail: jennymccain@sbcglobal.net”.

Members handed out information on prediabetes, diabetes, healthy meal planning, and our own “Diabetic Recipes” booklet, while enjoying Jake’s special made green bagels, in honor of St. Patrick’s Day!

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley members give a shout-out of thanks to Jake’s Bagels & Deli, for allowing our club to bring about an awareness of diabetes.

Members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley work together to bring about an awareness of diabetes, in the Fox Valley area, while raising funds to provide aid and education for diabetes, along with investing in research to find a cure.

Uncontrolled blood sugar (glucose) can cause vision problems, heart problems, nerve damage, dental problems, kidney damage and more.

Eat healthy, stay active and have a yearly blood test, to stay diabetes free!

Why not join our fight against diabetes? You don’t need to be a diabetic, to be a member of our club! Yearly individual membership dues are $50 per year. Student Dues are $25 per year. Corporate dues are $150 per year, which includes a sponsorship listing on our website: www.diabeteshelpnearme.com.

The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization. A true grassroots organization, where all money raised through dues, donations and fundraising is used for the club’s fight against diabetes.
