Jose Martinez was honored at the Aurora City Council meeting Tuesday as the Independence Day/Fourth of July parade grand marshal. Martinez, an Auroran, recently risked his life to pull a man out of a burning vehicle that crashed in front of the Martinez house on New York Street in Aurora. That heroic act earned him the votes to become the grand marshal. Martinez stands with his wife, Betty, and is honored by mayor of Aurora,
Richard Irvin. The parade will step off at 10 a.m. Wednesday, following a 9:30 a.m. pre-parade program.
