This year is but half over and we have witnessed some of the greatest policing challenges of our lifetime already. The COVID-19 pandemic struck early in the year and disrupted every American at work, at home, and at play. The lockdown resulted in unique challenges to our first responders, especially the police. On top of these extraordinary challenges the George Floyd death in Minneapolis triggered national riots, looting, statue and building destruction, and other acts further stretched and challenged our law enforcement authorities. Calls all over America are heard demanding that we “Defund the Police”. We all have seen and witnessed it all, even out in our formerly safe and docile communities.
Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird will discuss these and other challenges in his presentation at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, on Zoom at bit.ly/38MOAso, meeting ID: 630 816 7612 and password: 175209.
There will be time for a Q&A at the end of the ceremony. All are invited to attend. For questions, please contact Captain Leonard Wass, USN (Ret.) at wcginc@aol.com or 630-816-7612.
