State Representative Stephanie Kifowit (D-Oswego) is excited to host her annual Kids Expo and Touch-A-Truck Event. This interactive and educational event provides children with the opportunity to learn about their community, explore various professions, and get up close with the vehicles used for those jobs. The event will be held at the Phillips Park Family Aquatic Center on Saturday, September 14th, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and it will be free for all attendees.
“Each year, I look forward to seeing families come together at this event,” said Kifowit. “It’s a fun day for children and their families to engage with educational activities, meet professionals from different fields, and explore vehicles they often see from a distance. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy this event—it’s a great way to ensure children’s safety while creating lasting memories.”
This year’s event promises to be even more exciting, with new vehicles, activities, and safety initiatives.
The 2024 Kids Expo and Touch-A-Truck Event will again be held at the Phillips Park Family Aquatic Center in Aurora at 828 Montgomery Rd. The event will feature dozens of trucks and vehicles for children to explore, including big rigs, emergency vehicles, work trucks, an electric Hummer, and a helicopter landing. The vehicles will be displayed in both the North and South Parking Lots.
Coffman Truck Sales highlighted the importance of engaging with the community. “We’re excited to bring our Hummer EV and tow truck to this year’s event,” said General Manager Diane Zimmerman. “It’s a fantastic opportunity to introduce children to new technology and the importance of sustainability in the automotive industry.”
Attendees can also receive free child safety ID cards, provided in partnership with the Illinois Tollway. The ID cards, which include vital information like photographs and fingerprints, can help authorities locate and identify lost or missing children.
The event will feature exciting informational booths and interactive exhibits from organizations such as the City of Aurora, VNA Healthcare, Waubonsee Community College, and the Illinois State Treasurer’s ICASH program. Fox Valley United Way/Spark will be collecting diapers for their annual diaper donation drive. Face painting will be provided by Nick Cortino, a State Farm agent, and demonstrations will be hosted by the Phillips Park Zoo and other community groups.
The Kids Expo and Touch-A-Truck Event is free and will take place rain or shine.
