Kinda Going Back In Time

Share this article:

Before our teens we did not think of growing up;
We weren’t concerned with a half-filled half-empty cup.
Our likes and dislikes took no time at all to form;
And living for the moment seemed to be the norm.
The biggest thing we had to think about back then
Was just whose house or yard that we would play in then.
The weather was the key—what we’d be doing next.
It would be really rare if we were even perplexed.
A warm Spring day, with wind, out would come the kites.
And someone to play catch with took us into nights.
How many times did I miss supper, all because of that.
(A statement, not a question, but then you knew that).
We kinda wandered into other things to do,
But never was it something over which to brew.
So running, jumping, throwing, catching, nothing dread;
We tried most everything at least once, like I said.
