A coalition of northern Illinois chapters of the League of Women Voters will be host to a Candidate Forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 17 focused on Illinois Supreme Court and Illinois Appellate Court judge seats in the 2nd District. The 2nd Judicial District is comprised of DeKalb, Kane, Kendall, Lake, and McHenry Counties. The virtual forum will be conducted on Zoom at bit.ly/3kYqqlK. The event will start with a special pre-recorded message from Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice Anne Burke.
Invitations were extended to Illinois Supreme Court Democrat judicial candidates Rene Cruz, Elizabeth “Liz” Rochford, and Nancy Rodkin Rotering and Republican judicial candidates Mark Curran Jr., Susann Hutchinson, John Noverini, and Daniel B. Shanes. Invitations were sent to Illinois Appellate Court Democrat judicial candidates Michael Cortina, Chris Kennedy, and Erin Cartwright Weinstein. Candidates who are selected by voters in the June 28 General Primary will appear on the General Election ballot November 8. Members of the public who register in advance will have the opportunity to submit questions for possible inclusion.
According to organizers, “The League of Women Voters is a more than century’s old non-partisan grass-roots political organization. The League is your go-to organization for complete voter education, including candidate information and voter registration and voting information.”
Here are some important dates to know for the upcoming 2022 General Primary:
• March 30: First day to request vote by mail application.
• May 19: Early voting begins at permanent polling locations.
• June 12: Last day to register online.
• June 23: Last day to request vote by mail application.
• June 28: General Primary Election Day.
