Aurora’s 73rd annual Lehnertz Avenue drive-thru Christmas display will open at 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 and will feature lawn signs and cutout figures of, religious and secular figures homeowners’ lawns, including Charlie Brown characters,
The display will every day run from 5 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. through January 3, 2025.
Visitors should enter Lehnertz Avenue via Sheridan Street, go through Lehnertz Circle and exit via Ohio Street.
The event will opens with a blessing of the nativity crib, on the northwest corner of Lehnertz Avenue and Ohio Street in Aurora, by Fr. Godwin Asuquo, pastor at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Aurora.
The lights will glow all night on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.
Lehnertz Circle, a second block to the east, will continue the celebration with secular displays.
The display is sponsored by a nonprofit association of neighborhood residents on Aurora’s far East Side.
Lehnertz is recognized as the oldest, totally-free traditional Christmas display in Illinois.
