• Oswego household hazardous waste recycling event: The event from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1000 Station Drive, Oswego, is open to all Illinois residents. Household hazardous waste items are materials purchased for cleaning or maintaining a home and include: Oil-based paints, household batteries, used motor oil, paint thinners, herbicides, lawn chemicals, insecticides, solvents, pesticides, antifreeze, gasoline, pool chemicals, aerosol paints, cleaning products, fluorescent bulbs, mercury, acids, corrosives, unwanted medications. The following items will not be accepted include: Latex paint, propane tanks, smoke detectors, explosives, farm machinery oil, fire extinguishers, biohazard waste, and lead acid batteries.
