• Kane County’s Recycling collection event: The next one-day event will be Saturday, May 11 from 8 a.m. to noon at 540 S. Randall Road, St. Charles. There will be document shredding available with a limit of four boxes. Electronics, books, and latex paint will be accepted at this event. There is a fee for TVs and computer monitors, both tube and flat screen, of $25. for screens under 21 inches (measured diagonally) and $35. for screens 21 inches and larger. The fee may be paid online in advance or onsite by exact cash or card. All locations will receive the following items for free: Cable & satellite receivers, cables & cords, cell phones / pdas, circuit boards, computers, dvd players, phones, printers, vcrs, video game consoles. • Oswego Spring Free Paper Shredding Event: To assist in the prevention of identity theft, the Oswego Police Department and First National Bank of Oswego will offer a free shredding service to the community from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 18, at the First National Bank, 6601 US Route 34.
