There’s been music in the air at the Aurora Public Library District (APLD) this month! We are encouraging customers to Let Your Imagination sing at the Library as we celebrate Library Card Sign-Up Month. During this time, libraries nationwide join the American Library Association (ALA) to remind parents, caregivers, and students, who sign up for a Library card is the first step on the path to academic achievement and lifelong learning.
Libraries play a crucial role in the education and development of children, offer a variety of programs to spark creativity and stimulate an interest in reading and learning. Through access to technology, media resources, and educational programs, a library card gives students the tools to succeed in the classroom and provides those of all ages opportunities to pursue their dreams. The Library can help you find a new career, explore new hobbies and interests, and find your voice.

We have books, movies, games, and resources for school and work,” said senior circulation manager, Yiota Piraino. “If you need a Library card, or are looking to reconnect with us, now is the time! Things have changed at the Library. Come see for yourself!”
If you sign up for a Library card this month, you will be among the first to receive one of our newly- designed Library cards. We are thrilled to reveal the card designed by Dagny Tang, age 10, chosen by public vote as the winner of our first-ever Library card design contest in April 2022. It is a limited edition APLD Library card that only will be available while supplies last, so don’t wait to get yours! Newly-registered cardholders will receive a Library Welcome Kit with information about everything the Library has to offer.
All ready have a Library card? Don’t worry, the fun isn’t just for new customers! Everyone is encouraged to take advantage of our special Library card sign-up activities and receive some Library swag to take home. You’ll be able to add your personal musical note to our collaborative display and take a social media-worthy photo with our stage backdrop and microphone. You may enter our drawing for a chance to win a cozy APLD-branded picnic blanket! It’s the perfect addition to outdoor functions and folds nicely to be taken on the go.
