Saturday, Sept. 26, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Latino author and civic leader, Dr. Robert Renteria, will be host to a listening session at the former Aurora Public Library, 1 E. Benton Street, Aurora. Residents are encouraged to share their stories of how mentors have helped change their lives, or the life of a loved one.
The event is sponsored by State senator Jim Oberweis, representative Keith Wheeler, Kane County circuit clerk, Tom Hartwell, State Senate 25 candidate, Jeanette Ward, and State representative 49 candidate, Laura Curtis.
“From the Barrio” mentoring books and curriculum will be distributed at, and after, the event, to at-risk youth and their families. Papa John’s Pizza and RX Water will be provided to those who attend.
