The Little Ten Conference held a special meeting at Somonauk High School Wednesday Dec. 4, 2019. All schools were represented at both the athletic directors/principals meeting, followed by the legislative meeting. During that meeting the Little Ten Conference voted to accept DePue Unit School 103 into the conference beginning in the Fall semester this year.
The Little Ten Conference was formed for the 1919-1920 school year. Founding members included Earlville, Hinckley, Leland, Paw Paw, Plano, Rollo, Sandwich, Shabbona, Somonauk, and Waterman. Current members include Earlville, Hiawatha, Hinckley-Big Rock, Indian Creek, LaMoille, Leland, Newark, Serena, and Somonauk. DePue will return the membership total to 10 schools. The Little Ten Conference boys basketball tournament has been held every season since 1920 and is the oldest conference tournament in the State. It celebrated its 100th anniversary in February 2019.
The Little Ten Conference sponsors the following sports and activities: Boys golf, boys soccer, girls volleyball, boys and girls basketball, boys baseball, girls softball, band, choir, and scholastic bowl.
The Little Ten Conference is a strong small school conference and members have expressed excitement to see where we will be in the next 100 years. With a strong Conference brings unity, growth, and potential.
