Loaves & Fishes is excited to celebrate our volunteers during Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 18-22.
Loaves & Fishes volunteers are instrumental in executing our mission. Here’s a peek at how they make serving almost 5,000 people each week possible.
Our volunteer truck drivers rescue food from our grocery partners and transport it to our Food Distribution Hub. Here our volunteers receive, sort, and organize the products we receive. Online pickers manage and fulfill the weekly orders from our online market while other volunteers organize and prepare food for curbside pickup and delivery to our additional locations.
At our Market in Naperville, greeters welcome and register clients, while volunteers assist clients during their shopping experience. Our courtesy patrol volunteers direct traffic flow and load the client’s vehicles with groceries.
Our CARES volunteers field phone calls and help clients with emergency assistance and in-person appointments for tax preparation, job support, and other supportive programs.
It takes many personnel to get things accomplished. Currently, we have more than 800 volunteers, with approximately 300 reporting each week. Volunteers log between 4-6K hours each month!
We welcome you to join our volunteer family. To learn more, visit loaves-fishes.org.
