NASCAR Monster Energy series, Ford Eco-Boost 400, Miami Homestead Speedway, Homestead, Fla., Sunday, Nov. 18.
Joey Logano won the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Series Championship Sunday, his first Monster Series championship victory. In second place was Martin Truex, Jr., third was Kevin Harvick, forth was Kyle Busch, fifth was Brad Keselowski, and Matt Kenseth finished in sixth.
Sunday the only four who could win the championship were Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex, Jr., and Logano. Logano was the only of the four who had not won a championship.
Denny Hamlin started on pole and led until the last 25 laps of the first segment when Harvick took the lead and won the first stage over Kyle Larson.
Logano took the lead early in the second stage and was challenged by Kyle Busch, Harvick, and Larson. Harvick eventually got in the lead and won the second stage.
At the start of the third stage it was getting dark, which caused the track to cool down and the cars got loose.
With 20 laps to go in the race, Daniel Suarez had a tire blowout and he brushed the wall which brought out a caution.
With 17 laps to go, Logano passed Kyle Busch and Truex, Jr. to take the lead and stayed there for the victory.
• Ford won the NASCAR Manufacturers Championship, which it hasn’t won in many years.
• Truex, Jr. will not drive for Furniture Row team next year and will instead drive for Joe Gibbs Motorsports in 2019.
• Saturday night Tyler Redick won the Xfinity Championship at Homestead Speedway.
