Debi Ross, left, District governor of Rotary Dist 6450, bestows on Lorraine Garciacano a Paul Harris Fellowship pin at Mother’s Pancake House September 11. Paul Harris started Rotary in 1905 in Chicago. Every Rotarian strives to become a Paul Harris Fellow by contributing to The Rotary International Foundation and doing “Service above self”, Rotary’s motto. The Aurora Sunrise Rotary Club is known for its participation in Rotary’s Youth Exchange program that sends Aurora high school students on a cultural exchange to a foreign country for 11 months, and is host to one or two foreign students for 11 months each year. Lorraine Garciacano is not a Rotarian, but has helped the Club continue its great youth program by being a host mom for eight students over the years, and has sent her daughter outbound through the program. The Fellowship is the Club’s way of showing its appreciation.
