Victoria Garcia was an exchange student at West Aurora High School during the 2015-2016 school year through the Sunrise Rotary Aurora. Upon returning to Venezuela to follow her dream of a college education, she found universities were closing, therefore severely limiting any opportunity for a higher education.
Seven families, who came to know Victoria while she was here, learned of her plight and formed the Victoria Committee. After six months of planning and fundraising, she was brought back to Aurora in August 2017 by this committee. She immediately enrolled at Waubonsee Community College. Since completing her first year, she is applying to universities to complete her dream of a career in the field of medicine. Right now, raising funds for her education is the committee’s primary goal. Faced with at least three more years of finance bills, we need help!
The good news is that she has received an extremely generous pledge by an anonymous donor, to match the donations deposited by September 15, to Chase the Moon on Victoria’s behalf, up to $10,000.
Such opportunities are rare, so we are hoping to maximize it to the best of our ability.
You may send a check in any amount to: Chase the Moon (501c3), P.O. Box 5352, Aurora, IL 60507, Memo Field: Victoria Fund.
