United Methodists of the Northern Illinois Conference will honor the memory of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., with a program at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 19 at First United Methodist Church, 1032 Maple Avenue in Downers Grove.
The public is invited to the event and admission and parking are free.
Rev. Danita R. Anderson, NIC assistant to Bishop Dan Schwerin, will speak on “The Unfinished Agenda.” Rev. Schwerin, Northern Illinois-Wisconsin Episcopal Area bishop, will offer remarks. Several church choirs will perform.
A free dinner will follow the program.
In the more than 50 years since the death of Dr. King, NIC United Methodists have gathered annually to honor his memory and recommit to his vision of the beloved community.
