The Diabetes Club of Fox Valley (DCFV) enjoyed a history lesson from Jeanette and Denny Lee, the Village of Montgomery historians, at the Club’s February 9, membership meeting.

Jeanette Lee spoke on the first European settler, Jacob Carpenter, who arrived in November 1832, from Ohio. Nicholas Gray arrived in the Spring 1834 and his brother, Daniel S. Gray, from Montgomery County, N. Y., settled with his family in Fall 1836. He built the first wooden house in the area, which was in the southern part of what is now Montgomery, near the west bank of the Fox River.

Montgomery historians, Denny and Jeanette Lee, enlightened the members of the Diabetes Club of Fox Valley (DCFV) about the founding of the Village of Montgomery, and the construction of Gray’s Mill in 1857, at the Club’s February membership meeting at Gray’s Mill Estate. DCFV was founded in October of last year and has 42 members. The Club meets monthly on the second Thursday, at the historic Gray’s Mill Estate, 211 N. River Street, Montgomery, Ill..
