Montgomery Village Board meeting, Gina Galanis sworn in, police blood tests

Montgomery resident Gina Galanis is sworn in Monday by Village president Matt Brolley to be Montgomery’s newest police officer. Montgomery Police Chief Phillip Smith introduced her at the Montgomery Village Board meeting and said she was graduated from Oswego East High School and Aurora University with a major in psychology and a minor in criminal justice. She previously worked for the Aurora University Campus Police and is fluent in Greek. She was graduated from the Police Academy in September. She always wanted to be a Montgomery Police Officer since the age of 7. Her hobbies are cooking, baking, and cross-fit. After she was sworn in, her mother, Sophia, pinned on her badge.

Jamie Wilkey, a partner with Lauterbach & Amen, not in photo, presented mandatory audit information and explained the independent auditor concluded, based upon the audit, that there was a reasonable basis for rendering an unmodified opinion and that the Village’s financial statements for the fiscal year ended April 30, are fairly presented in conformity with GAAP. State law and the Illinois Municipal Code requires the Village to post the audit report and management letter on the website. Mark Wolf, director of Public Works, not in photo, said the cost of salt for snow removal has increased from $64.18 per ton to $96.25 mostly due to an increase in demand and problems with logistics.
