Montgomery Village attorney Steve Andersson, left, tells the Village Board Monday a tie vote fails to let the Board reconsider a previous vote at the Montgomery Village Board meeting. Village officials were split on whether to reconsider an ammendment to the Orchard Crossings planned unit of development to allow a second motor vehicle services special use permit. Christian Brothers Automotive Corporation seeks to build a facility next to the Merlin 200,000 Miles Shop near the intersection of Route 30 and Orchard Road in Montgomery. Andersson said because of a pending public hearing he has to do more research to advise the Board. •Brian Maillet, right, director of Microgrid Energy based in Chicago, expresses interest in using $43,500. of Village tax increment financing (TIF) funds to clear 10 acres of land at Aucutt and Albright Roads and build a solar energy field. Maillet said his company is currently managing 28 systems in Colorado and could give solar subscribers in Montgomery a rate less than half of what ComEd charges. He said the Future Energy Jobs Act will open up this Summer and funds would be available this Summer. Maillet said several other municipalities expressed interest. Board members expressed interest, but wanted to see a business plan in writing. •A discussion to change the end time for liquor sales from 2 a.m. to 1 a.m. received verbal support by Board members and could be on a future agenda.
