Montgomery Village president Matt Brolley issued the following statement regarding the passing of former Aurora mayor Tom Weisner:
“I am saddened by the passing of my friend and colleague former Aurora mayor Tom Weisner. His legacy will live on as a leader who had a clear vision of the future and successfully chartered a course to achieve it. When I was first elected, he reached out to offer guidance and support that quickly grew into a great friendship.
“Through his many endeavors, mayor Weisner reached far beyond the borders of his beloved Aurora. He impacted all of our towns through his advocacy for good, strong local government, sustainable water supply planning and much more. Although his time here has passed, his legacy in this regard will live on.
“In honor of the life and legacy of mayor Weisner, I have directed the flags of the Village to be flown at half-staff and bunting be placed on Village buildings from today until his pending funeral.
“On behalf of the board and staff of the Village of Montgomery, my wife, and I express our deepest condolences to Tom’s wife, Marilyn and their family.”
