The music lineup for the May 3 Food Truck Festival has been announced by Aurora Downtown.
Todd Kessler will be the headline at this year’s event at 7:30 p.m. at the Millennium Plaza gazebo stage on Stolp Avenue in downtown Aurora.
Fans of NBC television’s The Voice might recognize Kessler from being part of Team Ceelo. Kessler is a folk-rock star in his own right. His solo debut album “About Memory” was well-received and earned the Chicagoland native high praise for being a singer/songwriter.
Joybird will open for Kessler at 6 p.m. May 3. Joybird is Chicago songwriter, fiddler, and multi-instrumentalist Jess McIntosh. McIntosh will be joined by her band comprised of traditional and improvisational musicians.
With recent subzero temperatures along with a windchill warning in the area, the nonprofit was eager to share something to look forward to this Spring in downtown Aurora, said Marissa Amoni with Aurora Downtown.
The concerts will coincide with the fourth annual Food Truck Festival that the nonprofit will be host to a free community event along Benton Street from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The night is part of First Fridays, in which several venues open to the public for a night of art and culture on the first Friday of the month in downtown Aurora.
“We’ll have dozens of food vendors lined up along the Benton bridges, and live music at Millennium Plaza on Stolp plus all of the First Fridays activities. It’ll be a great kickoff to the Summer season,” Amoni said.
