The City of Naperville household hazardous waste (HHW) drop-off facility, 156 Fort Hill Drive, next to the Public Works Service Center, will accept many types of household waste from all Illinois residents. The facility is open Saturdays and Sundays, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., excluding holidays. No material may be dropped off at any other time.
Household hazardous waste items include: Aerosol cans, automotive oil, gasoline, and anti-freeze, batteries, including automotive, marine and sump pump, Fire extinguishers, unbroken fluorescent bulbs and CFLs, household cleaners such as drain openers and pool chemicals, mercury, oil based paints and stains, poison, pesticides and fertilizers, non-controlled prescription and over-the-counter medications, solvents, and strippers. Items not accepted include: Ammunition, empty spray cans, explosives, latex paint, paper, glass, metal, wood, styrofoam, radioactive materials, smoke detectors, and tires.
