This July, National Park and Recreation Month, an initiative of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), recognizes the important role park districts have in their communities. The Naperville Park District’s mission “to provide recreation and park experiences that promote healthy lives, healthy minds and a healthy community” influences the services the agency provides. The Park District invites the community to celebrate parks and recreation this month and year-round.
The Naperville Park District offers services and events for residents of all ages to connect with the community and create great experiences, providing 138 parks throughout Naperville and more than 7,500 recreational classes, teams, events and performances annually.
The Naperville Park District is hosts to a variety of free events throughout the year that families can enjoy together. These events can range from seasonal one-day events, such as Halloween Happening in the Fall, to a series of events, such as A Night at the Movies.
Residents can discover more activities at the Naperville Park District through Park It! In Naperville, a Park District campaign highlighting activities within the community that residents and visitors can enjoy.
Additionally, the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) celebrated the sixth annual Unplug Illinois Day Saturday, July 13.
Created by the IPRA, Unplug Illinois is a campaign to encourageindividuals to unplug from electronics and enjoy everything their local park, recreation, and conservation agencies have to offer.
The Naperville Park District provides amazing ways to take advantage of these national and statewide initiatives this Summer. Visit www.napervilleparks.org for more information on how to connect with us and enjoy vast recreation opportunities right here in your community!
