Calling all creature enthusiasts! Get ready for a slithery good time at the Aurora Public Library District (APLD) when Dave DiNaso’s Traveling World of Reptiles slithers in for an exciting presentation at the West Branch Saturday, July 27 at 1 p.m. in which this interactive show, perfect for children of all ages and their caregivers, promises an up-close encounter with fascinating reptiles and amphibians from around the globe.

Dave DiNaso, a Chicagoland native, has been educating audiences about animals for over 30 years. His informative and entertaining shows focus on appreciating and respecting reptiles, not necessarily forcing you to like them. The goal is to educate audiences on the role reptiles play in maintaining a healthy ecosystem, what he calls his “cause behind the claws”. Dave’s team of experts dispels myths and misconceptions surrounding reptiles, encouraging a better understanding of these often-misunderstood animals.

Dave’s shows are more than just educational; they’re a guaranteed barrel of laughs! His unique blend of humor and knowledge makes learning fun and engaging for everyone. The show allows attendees to get close to a variety of reptiles, some familiar and some truly exotic. You might even get the chance to hold a snake or a docile lizard under careful supervision!

“I love seeing everyone’s reactions when the audience gets to participate.” says senior Children’s manager Monica Boyer. “This program is a fantastic opportunity to create lasting memories with your family at the library!”

Visiting the Library, especially during the Summer months, is a great way to keep everyone entertained. We offer lots of different programs, but we think most people would agree that having animals in the Library is always a good time! “Animal programs always have a great turnout, and reptiles are not something most people get a chance to see up close very often.” said librarian Diana Kocunik. “This program will offer a greater understanding of our world and a different way of learning besides reading books.” Reptiles are the focus of many conservation efforts which ties in well with our Summer Reading Adventure (Read, Renew, Repeat) wrapping up at the end of this month. If you haven’t already checked off the learn about endangered animals activity, attending the Traveling Reptile Show is one way to get that done!

Dave DiNaso’s Reptile Show is Saturday, July 27 at 1 p.m. at the West Branch. No registration is required, but, come early for a good spot! For more information, please contact the Library at 630-264-4117.
